Insurance Rebates
The gross costs of radiation therapy are quite expensive. However, Medicare pays back a large proportion. Whilst there is still a gap, out of pocket expenses are generally affordable.
Your doctor at PRO will discuss details of the cost of your therapy with you, and can provide a cost estimate prior to commencing treatment once your treatment plan has been established.
For outpatient treatment, private health insurance companies do not contribute to the cost of radiation therapy.
In general, overall cost depends on the length and overall complexity of the individual's course of treatment. However, after Medicare and Medicare Plus, the longest and most complex case will rarely have a maximum out of pocket expense greater than $1500 for non-pensioners. For pensioners, such a case rarely costs more than $750 out of pocket.
PRO bills fortnightly, and accepts credit cards, cheques and cash.
